JPEG is the acronym for “Joint Photographic Experts Group”. It’s a standard image format for containing lossy and compressed image data. These files can also contain high-quality image data with a lossless compression, i.e. no reduction in quality.
Despite the huge reduction in file size, these pictures maintain reasonable image quality. This unique compression feature allows these image files to be used widely on the Internet, Computers, and Mobile Devices. However, at high compression the images may appear «blurry».
The sharing of compressed images is quick and efficient. Also, a large number of image files can be stored in minimum storage space.
